Sophie Spells

Group Chief Executive Officer

Sophie stepped up to become RCK's first Group CEO in October 2025, from the role of RCK's General Counsel and Head of Legal, Data and Compliance. Sophie’s legal career has spanned over 13 years. Prior to joining RCK, she has spent the last seven years leading an in-house legal, data and compliance team at a leading law firm. Her experience incorporates all things legal (contracts/ litigation/ corporate), data protection, procurement, costs challenges, funding, compliance and dispute resolution. Prior to this, she worked in private practice in asset finance at Norton Rose, specialising in Shipping and Aviation Finance. Within her role of Group CEO, Sophie will focus on strategic-growth, exploring international expansion, growing RCK's service lines, and leading technology-driven projects. Outside of work she is kept busy with her three young children.

James Gibson

Chief Executive Officer and Partner

James Gibson is the Chief Executive Officer of RCK Partners and is focused on ensuring that the business continues to support UK company's growth and innovation. James has been working in the tax incentives industry since 2016. Since joining the firm in 2020, he has been instrumental to the growth of RCK and in 2024 was appointed CEO.

Wayne Boorer (ACMA)

Chief Financial Officer, MLRO and Partner

Wayne is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Prior to joining RCK, Wayne fulfilled the role of Group Commercial Finance Manager in a premium listed business in the professional services sector. Overall, Wayne has 14 years’ experience of working within manufacturing engineering, insurance, professional and financial services in a range of senior commercial and technical finance positions spanning the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia.

Peter Clark (PhD)

Co-founder and R&D Technical Director

As an experienced R&D professional, Peter completed an engineering doctorate whilst working within a FTSE 100 central R&D department and subsequently worked in development engineering, refining precious metals, before undertaking management consulting work to implement innovation software. Having worked within one of Europe's largest innovation funding providers, Peter has worked extensively on engineering, construction, manufacturing, and agricultural R&D claims. With a core background in R&D and Chemical Engineering, Peter can better understand the challenges encountered by his clients, applying technology driven solutions into corporation tax services on behalf of clients.

Eli Gottlieb (ATT & CTA)

Head of Risk & Compliance and Partner

Eli is an experienced Chartered Tax Adviser (both ATT & CTA qualified), as well as a CEDR Accredited Mediator, with ten years of expertise in various areas of tax. His career includes working in Private Client Tax at Smith & Williamson (now Evelyn Partners) and Tax Dispute Resolution at BDO. Eli excels as a resilient problem-solver with a keen interest in helping clients navigate and resolve complex tax disputes. As Head of Risk & Compliance, Eli leads the Compliance Team, ensuring all claims made by RCK meet the firm’s rigorous standards including compliance with both the legislation and HMRC’s guidance, without compromising on the value of relief to which clients are entitled. The Compliance Team also manages all correspondence with HMRC and any arising Enquiries. The team has a strong track record of resolving HMRC enquiries in a mutually beneficial manner for their clients and HMRC. Outside of tax, Eli's passionate about helping others navigate the convoluted care system in the UK. This stems from his lived experience as a primary carer for his brother-in-law who has Down’s Syndrome.

Eva-Maria Stegemann (MCIPD)

Head of Human Resources and Partner

With over 15 years of experience in Human Resources predominately in the Big Four, Eva is passionate about driving organisational success by aligning strategic people priorities to ambitious business growth plans. Eva is an organisational psychologist challenging the status quo by combining a forward-thinking approach, her interest in the latest research and leveraging data-driven decision making. In her volunteering work, Eva hopes to equip the next generation with transferable skills for their future of work.

Thomas Lee

Head of R&D and Partner

Tom has worked in R&D tax since 2019, gaining exposure to working on a wide range of clients including multinationals and listed companies. Prior to joining RCK, Tom worked in Corporation Tax, before joining the UK’s largest innovation funding provider. He has successfully advised clients within various industries on their R&D claims, ensuring compliance with the required government guidelines whilst managing an efficient and accurate delivery process.

Tony Rooks (FCA)

Financial Partner

Tony is a FCA bringing a wealth of experience of both sides of the consultant - client axis to RCK. After a decade of experience as a Chartered Accountant in audit and taxation in London, he moved to the corporate side and worked in a range of senior finance positions through to Division Finance Director for MyTravel Group plc and subsequently Thomas Cook. In this role he was also responsible for Procurement, Legal, HR, & IT and with responsibility for the worldwide reporting of the Hotel Division he has great experience of alternative approaches in different jurisdictions to similar objectives which he now applies to the benefit of our clients. As a specialist in tax, he was Thomas Cook Group PLC’s tax representative in Spain and main board Director of the Spanish entities.

Anastasiya Kokonova (MRICS)

Partner

Anastasiya is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 16 years of experience in the Capital Allowances sector. Prior to specialising in Capital Allowances, Anastasiya has worked as a Quantity Surveyor for 3 years for a large QS firm where she has gained experience in both new build and fit out projects. Anastasiya has provided Capital Allowances advice and undertaken claims on hundreds of properties and commercial transactions and has advised a wide variety of property investors across different sectors including high net worth individuals, hoteliers, retailers, media and investment companies and owner occupiers. Anastasiya holds a Masters Degree in Corporate Real Estate Finance and Strategy.

Partner

Freddie has been working in financial services since 2016, having previously worked at the UK’s largest provider of innovation funding. During this time, he has helped countless companies across a multitude of sectors – from Engineering and Construction to Agriculture and Software. Freddie’s success, in part, has come from his ability to nurture and grow relationships with the firm’s accountancy partners: an exercise he has pioneered within the industry. Freddie’s belief that by working alongside accountants to add value to their client base, rather than competing against them, has meant that he has created successful partnerships with over 100 accountancies across the UK – helping their clients obtain the various forms of government funding available to them. Indeed, this has been instrumental not just to the company, but to the industry as a whole, with many of the other providers implementing Freddie’s model.

Alex Gook

Partner

Alex joined RCK as our first ever graduate hire back in 2021 and has progressed to the role of a commercial Partner. With nearly five years of experience within the R&D tax credits sector, Alex works with a diverse range of clients from early-stage startups to established enterprises, and has a focus on the AI sector. His client-centred approach to the role has allowed Alex to form strong networks with both clients and professional service providers.

Dmitri Okorie

Head of Business Rates (Partner)

Dmitri brings 14 years of experience in the Business Rates sector. Throughout his career, he has built and led high-performing teams, driven substantial revenue growth, and enabled new income streams all with a strong focus on delivering value to clients. Specialising in B2B, Dmitri is known for driving innovation that enhances service delivery and client outcomes. He firmly believes that long-term success derives from trust and retention, making client satisfaction the foundation of his leadership approach.

Lord Philip Hammond

Chair

Lord Philip Hammond served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2016 to 2019, Foreign Secretary from 2014 to 2016, and Defence Secretary from 2011 to 2014, and is now Chair to RCK's Board. Previous to this, Lord Hammond served as a Senior Advisor and a Non-Executive Director to RCK. During his time as Chancellor, Lord Hammond championed innovation and productivity growth within the UK. Lord Hammond joined RCK to support its efforts to drive up compliance standards within the R&D tax credits advisory sector, thus protecting the R&D tax credit scheme which is such a vital part of the UK’s effort to raise innovation and productivity.

Peter Roscoe

Founder and President

Peter began his career at another R&D tax credit provider, and through this experience saw that there was a more client-centric way of operating. This led Peter to co-found RCK Partners. Peter transitioned from the former CEO of RCK to a Presidential role. Within this, Peter's focus is on developing key client relationships, partnerships, and driving new projects forward.

Lord Iain McNicol

Non-Executive Director

Lord Iain McNicol, Baron McNicol of West Kilbride is a British politician and former General Secretary of the Labour Party from 2011 to 2018. Lord McNicol will bring a wealth of experience from a thirty-year career working across politics, business and trade unions.

Andrew Roscoe

Non-Executive Director

Andrew began his career in a nuclear research laboratory as part of the UK’s development of nuclear power plants. Following an MBA at London Business School, he went on to build his career incorporate finance with Cazenove & Co. working on M&A transactions as well as IPOs. 26 years ago he joined Egon Zehnder, the international talent management firm. Since then he has held various roles including leading the UK business, helping to develop the firm’s business in Greater China and more recently sitting on the Swiss parent company board where he chaired the board finance committee. For several years he led the firm’s global assessment and development practice and co-authored a number of articles in Harvard Business Review on assessing potential for development in senior executives. He is currently splitting his time between London and Dublin where he has been responsible for establishing Egon Zehnder’s 36th country practice in the Irish capital. Outside work Andrew is a proud father and now grandfather and tries to keep active through running and swimming.

Alex Marshall joined RCK directly from HMRC’s R&D department, bringing more than 3 years of experience as an R&D Compliance officer. In his role as a Senior Compliance & HMRC Liaison at RCK, Alex plays a crucial role in the Compliance team by responding to HMRC enquiries and advising on our approach to claims.

Gosia obtained BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and MSc in International Business and Management. She has previously spent more than 3 years working in R&D Tax both in the UK and in Canada, where she was heavily involved in claim preparation and defence.

Parampreet Thiara

Param joined RCK directly from HMRC, where he most recently worked within their R&D department. Having spent just over 3 years at HMRC, Param initially trained as a Higher Executive Officer in Corporation Tax compliance before moving on to work in Complex Evasion, where he led investigations into large companies, as part of the Wealthy and Mid-Sized Business Compliance Directorate. Prior to working at HMRC, Param read Economics at the University of Birmingham.

Pia Chakrabarty (ACCA)

Assistant Manager

Pia is an audit and accounting professional with extensive experience in statutory audit procedures, accounting principles and financial reporting. She has audited clients listed on various stock exchange (NSE/BSE/SEC) in sectors such as manufacturing, IT services and healthcare services, and has been responsible for auditing a whole unit of an NSE listed company, performing SOX audit for an SEC listed client. Pia has assisted clients in preparation of standalone and consolidated financial statements in line with respective accounting framework, with subsidiaries in various countries.

Taher graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Economics and French, during which time he studied at the Toulouse School of Economics. Paul Rosser

Partner (External)

Paul is a R&D software consultant and industry commentator who has joined RCK as a contractor in a Partner position. At RCK, Paul focuses on R&D tax credit software consulting while also representing RCK Partners more broadly across the wider market. RCK operates a layered advisory model, to which Paul contributes by adding in-depth sector expertise as RCK expands its senior capabilities to meet growing client demand across innovation-led and technology-driven sectors. In addition, Paul is the founder of R&D Consulting Ltd and has worked in R&D tax relief, I.T. and digital forensics over the last two decades, he is widely recognised for his deep technical knowledge and principled approach to advising on complex claims. Outside of RCK, Paul undertakes investigative and reporting work. In recognition of his impact, Paul has received the Outstanding Contribution to Tax by an Individual award at the 2025 Tolley’s Taxation Awards. He is widely regarded as a central in driving higher standards within the industry.

Younes Fegheh-Hassanpour PhD

R&D Manager

Younes is Head of Life-Sciences and an R&D Tax Manager at RCK, with a D.Phil in Organic Chemistry from the University of Oxford and a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Queen Mary University. With over six years of experience as an R&D tax specialist, Younes also brings a strong background in industrial drug development. His expertise spans complex drug design, custom synthesis, and process development for regulatory-controlled substances used in Phase I and II clinical trials. He has extensive experience in GMP and GLP environments, including large-scale reactor development, early-stage steroid pharmaceutical formulation, and the synthesis of carbohydrates for targeted disease control. Younes has been closely involved in multiple stages of the drug development lifecycle, from strategy and implementation to hands-on execution of long-term R&D programmes.

Albert Cabral (MSc)

Assistant R&D Manager

Albert holds a BEng in Aerospace Engineering (Design) and a MSc in Advanced Motorsport Engineering from Cranfield University. He has industrial experience within the aerospace and automotive sector. Since joining RCK in September 2022 as an Associate R&D consultant, and now an Assistant R&D Manager, he has compiled claims for a range of sectors including defence, agriculture, engineering, oil and gas, and construction. He has an interest in the Engineering sector (defence, aerospace, automotive, marine, motorsport and precision engineering) within the scope of technology and manufacturing developments.

Haris Malik

Assistant R&D Manager

Haris is an R&D Tax Manager specialising in R&D tax relief for SMEs and RDEC claims across the Life Sciences and Chemicals sectors. With a degree in polymer chemistry, he brings a strong technical understanding of formulation and materials development, process optimisation, scale-up challenges, and the practical uncertainties that arise in R&D. Haris leads a team of R&D consultants, overseeing the end-to-end delivery of claims and maintaining high standards of technical quality, consistency, and compliance. Haris manages project planning and resourcing, provides technical coaching and review, and ensures each claim is supported by clear evidence, robust eligibility analysis and robust cost methodologies. He works closely with his clients’ technical and financial stakeholders to translate complex innovation into concise narratives, and he provides enquiry support to help clients respond efficiently and confidently throughout the compliance process.

Nuno Navega (MEng and MSc)

Principal Consultant

Nuno has an Engineering background, specialising in Electrical Engineering. With a Master’s from the University of Bristol, and with previous experience working in Automation Engineering. Since his move to R&D Tax Relief, he has worked with a vast range of clients across sectors and industries and has delivered close to a million in client benefit. He prides himself on his attention to detail and excellent client relationship management.

James is vastly experienced in the world of science, coming from an academic background in chemistry, as well as having experience working in R&D, in the chemical industry. Since his move to R&D Tax Relief, he has shown a high level of versatility, having worked with a wide range of our clients whilst also demonstrating a high attention to detail and excellent client management.

Gajan Ganeshalingam

Principal Consultant (Software & Dual-Use Technology)

Gajan is a Principal Consultant at RCK Partners, specialising in complex, software-led R&D across VC-backed technology companies, deep-tech start-ups, and dual-use organisations. He leads end-to-end R&D delivery for claims within the technology sector, translating advanced engineering projects into compliant claims that deliver commercial value. Since joining RCK, Gajan has played a key role in building the firm’s software-focused R&D capabilities, enabling the secure onboarding and delivery of work for large multinational and emerging multinational technology companies. More recently, he has helped establish RCK’s dedicated defence and dual-use R&D offering, supporting organisations operating in highly regulated and sensitive industries. Gajan works closely with CTOs, engineers, and founders to coordinate technical inputs, assess system design and technical risk and translate complex engineering work into robust, defensible R&D submissions. To date, he has delivered over 300 R&D claims within the SME, RDEC, ERIS and Merged Schemes.

Saifur Rahman

Software Advisor (External)

Sai Rahman is an External Software Advisor at RCK Partners, bringing over 7 years of experience in R&D tax with a primary focus on software and IT companies, including FTSE 100 clients. He holds a master’s degree in computer science, specialising in network engineering and machine learning, and has a background in software engineering with hands-on experience developing networking applications and SaaS for professional services industry. At RCK, Sai provides technical leadership on complex software claims, drawing on deep expertise across enterprise-level software engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning systems, big data infrastructure, and telecommunications.

Adil Ali

Consultant – Advisory

Adil holds an MEng in Engineering from the University of Sheffield which has help equipped him with critical skill for R&D, including a structured approach to problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into practical applications. His extensive experience within the energy sector , has involved collaborating with the government to uphold and modernise the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology, integral to generating Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). Furthermore, during his time as an Energy Consultant at BRE, Adil was actively involved in extensive research, analysis, and software development to provide technical support regarding building energy performance. This included analysing and interpreting evidence from field trials and lab experiments to improve methods of estimating energy performance, which directly honed his R&D capabilities. In his current role as an R&D Consultant at RCK Partners, Adil manages a diverse portfolio across a wide range of industries including engineering, construction, manufacturing, architecture, bioscience, and software. Adil's work involves financial analysis to accurately calculate R&D benefits, engaging in technical discussions to deeply understand complex project concepts, and applying comprehensive knowledge of HMRC guidelines to ensure compliant and successful claims.

Lexi Chen (Mres)

Consultant – Advisory

Lexi is an experienced R&D consultant with a Master’s in Ecology from Imperial College London and has an extensive understanding of animal and biological sciences fields. She brings expertise in data analysis and research methodologies, demonstrated through her contributions to meta-analyses and epidemiological studies. Lexi worked as a Research Assistant at Imperial Collage and worked on a paper (on a meta-analysis study on the effect of biodiversity changes with human activities on ecosystem function) and has also worked as a Research Assistant at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as formerly working at a diagnostic company, within the histopathology and immunology department. Since joining RCK, Lexi has worked across a range of sectors, including science and produces detailed, compliant technical and financial documentation. With a proven track record of delivering results, Lexi continues to support clients in identifying and articulating innovation across complex projects.

Cassius Cracknell Ma (Arch)

Consultant – Advisory

Prior to joining RCK, Cassius achieved his Bachelor’s and subsequently his Master's in Architecture and went on to gain significant experience working for some of the UK’s leading architects. Cassius has worked in R&D tax since 2023, bringing expertise and understanding from within the construction and architecture sectors to assist in preparing claims, and to help communicate and speak the same technical language as clients within these sectors. He has successfully advised clients within various industries on their R&D claims, ensuring compliance with the required government guidelines, whilst managing an efficient and accurate delivery process.

Rukayya Saifuddin (MSci)

Associate Consultant – Advisory

Having graduated from King’s College London with a First-class degree in Pharmacology, Rukayya received an award for the best dissertation of the year. Before joining RCK as an Associate Consultant in 2023, Rukayya worked in the UK’s only world anti-doping accredited laboratory for a year.

Associate Consultant – Advisory

Having graduated with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry and a Master’s in drug design from University College London, Ana decided to pivot away from scientific research and apply her skillset to a consulting role in R&D tax credits. Having previously worked in the Home Office Science department, the skills and experience she acquired meant the transition to R&D Tax Relief, where we work closely with HMRC to submit claims, was very seamless. Ana’s academic background, along with prior experience, heavily compliments her current role, understanding the technical aspects of the R&D work of her clients, drafting concise technical reports and completing financial assessments for both SME and RDEC clients. Combined with her ability to build strong client relationships, she is passionate about working on the expansive software, engineering, and life sciences portfolio at RCK.

Overall, Wayne has 14 years’ experience of working within manufacturing engineering, insurance, professional and financial services in a range of senior commercial and technical finance positions spanning the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia.

Freddie has been working in financial services since 2016, having previously worked at the UK’s largest provider of innovation funding. During this time, he has helped countless companies across a multitude of sectors – from Engineering and Construction to Agriculture and Software. Freddie’s success, in part, has come from his ability to nurture and grow relationships with the firm’s accountancy partners: an exercise he has pioneered within the industry. Freddie’s belief that by working alongside accountants to add value to their client base, rather than competing against them, has meant that he has created successful partnerships with over 100 accountancies across the UK – helping their clients obtain the various forms of government funding available to them. Indeed, this has been instrumental not just to the company, but to the industry as a whole, with many of the other providers implementing Freddie’s model.

Darren oversees VodafoneThree's financial strategy, management and reporting, along with the Procurement, Data & Analytics and Wholesale functions. As CFO of VodafoneThree, Darren is responsible for delivering the £11bn CAPEX commitment that will transform the UK telecoms sector through the creation of the UK’s Best Network. Prior to this he held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Three UK from 2018, having joined the company in 2009, and played a key role in the formation of the new company. Darren previously sat on the MBNL board, overseeing the network-sharing partnership with EE. In addition, Darren has held finance leadership roles at Marks & Spencer Group plc, Warehouse Fashions, Borders Books and Kingfisher plc.

MB Christie

MB Christie is a product and operations leader with over 25 years’ experience as a Product and Operations Leader. She has held senior leadership roles at organisations including the Financial Times, Rightmove, Simply Business, TUI Group, and Tech Nation. MB's executive experience includes serving as Chief Product Officer at Simply Business, Chief Operating Officer at Tech Nation, Digital Product Director at TUI Group, and Product Director at the Financial Times, where she played a key role in leading the organisation’s transition from print to digital. MB currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at MONY Group plc, Finsbury Growth & Income Trust plc, Social Finance Inc, and Open Banking, bringing deep expertise in digital strategy, governance, and scaling innovation. A former journalist, MB began her career as a foreign correspondent for several US newspapers and was named one of Cranfield School of Management’s Top 100 Women to Watch in 2018. MB joined RCK as an advisor due to her passion for innovation and her commitment to helping product leaders strengthen their business cases through R&D tax credits.

Rebecca DeNiro

RCK Advisor and Former Managing Director for GB & Ireland at Dyson, holds a number of NED roles, such as at Riverford Organic Farmers, Regatta Ltd, and is Chair at Ribble Cycles.

Rebecca DeNiro is an experienced Chair and Non-Executive Director with a track record of driving transformation and value creation across PLC, PE-backed and privately owned businesses. She is recognised for her combination of commercial acumen, incisive intellect, and people-centred leadership, as well as her ability to bring structure, governance and long-term strategic focus to high-growth and complex environments. She currently Chairs Ribble Cycles and Ruroc, supporting management teams and investors to deliver operational evolution, organisational capability and sustainable growth. She also serves as a Non-Executive Director at Norcros PLC, Regatta Ltd and Riverford Organic Farmers, providing support on strategy, succession and board effectiveness. Previous NED roles include Clarks Ltd and trustee positions at the Royal West of England Art Academy, where she chaired the revenue development and nominations committees. Rebecca’s executive career included roles as CEO of Pure Electric and Managing Director GB&I of Dyson Ltd.

Rakesh Sharma

Rakesh studied Physics at the University of Nottingham and began his career at Marconi, where he secured a patent for his work on military radios. He joined Ultra Electronics in 1989 as Chief Engineer and later moved into strategy and M&A after completing a group-sponsored EMBA at the University of Bath, including a two-year assignment in the USA. Rakesh managed businesses across Ultra’s portfolio spanning defence, aerospace, nuclear energy, cyber, and infrastructure, consistently driving innovation and growth. He served as Chief Executive of Ultra Electronics from 2011 to 2017. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and currently sits on its External Affairs Committee, having previously chaired the Industrial Fellowship Committee. In January 2021, Rakesh was appointed Chair of Kromek Group plc and also serves as Senior Independent Director at PayPoint Group plc and as Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee at Mony Group plc. Rakesh was awarded an OBE in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours and received the Freedom of the City of London in 2018.

Jitesh Sodha

Jitesh is an accomplished finance leader who is an experienced FTSE 250 NED, and Group CFO, bringing over 25 years of CFO experience. He is an Oxford graduate and an accounting institute prize winner. Jitesh served as Chief Financial Officer of Spire Healthcare, the UK's leading private hospital group. Prior to Spire, Jitesh held CFO roles at De La Rue, Greenergy, Mobile Streams PLC, and T-Mobile. Throughout his career, Jitesh has worked across B2B and B2C businesses including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, technology, telecoms, energy, distribution and services, spanning both listed and privately owned entrepreneurial organisations. In addition to his executive career, Jitesh is currently a Non-Executive Director to PZ Cussons plc.

Stephen Harrison

RCK Advisor and Former Chief Executive at Forterra PLC, Chairman of Epwin Group plc and Tungsten West plc, and NED of Castings plc.

Stephen Harrison was appointed Chair of Tungsten West plc in December 2024. The company is focused on restarting mining operations at the Hemerdon tungsten and tin deposit in Devon. Stephen is also a Non-Executive Director of Castings plc, a UK-based iron casting and machining group supplying domestic and export markets including heavy truck, wind power, agriculture, rail and material handling. In addition, Stephen chairs the Board of the Builders Merchants National Buying Group. Stephen served as Chair of Epwin Group plc, the leading UK manufacturer of PVC, glass-reinforced plastic and aluminium building products, until October 2025, when the company was acquired by a German family business at a 30% share price premium and subsequently delisted. From April 2016 to May 2023, Stephen was Chief Executive of Forterra plc, a major UK manufacturer of essential clay and concrete building products. He led the business through its divestment from Heidelberg Materials into private equity ownership and lead its IPO onto the London Stock Exchange. Stephen has over a decade of senior management experience within the construction materials industry, has served as a Director of several key construction and trade associations, and holds a degree in Economics and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.

Andrew Carwardine

RCK Advisor and Former Army Officer and Specialist Non-Exec Adviser at UK Ministry of Defence, strategic adviser with extensive Government, International Management and Private Equity experience.

Andrew has spent most of his life as a professional soldier, serving both full-time and in the Army Reserve. Rising from private soldier to the Army General Staff before leaving the regular military to pursue a highly successful second career in software and technology. Andrew holds an MBA and a second Master's in the Management of Defence. Still an advisor on the technical, training, and strategic elements of the UK Ministry of Defence, his previous military roles have included the Army’s Head of Business Intelligence, Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Staff, and Commanding Officer. Andrew has extensive operational experience working across multiple geographies and conflicts. His commercial career encompasses carving out business units and, as a CEO, successfully growing them to exit into independent technology companies focused on the Government, National Security, Maritime, and Aviation sectors. Through his own advisory firm, he remains an active member of several boards and an operating partner in private equity. In tandem with RCK’s Board, Andrew provides the focus and knowledge that enables RCK to offer its R&D tax support to companies of all sizes, that operate in the UK Defence and Critical National Infrastructure sector. Andrew is passionate about supporting the Sector as well as the companies and individuals that work in it. As part of his role with RCK, Andrew is happy to offer his experience and guidance to RCK's clients as they navigate the sector.

Phill Davies

RCK Advisor and Fractional and Founding Leader and Co-founder and former CEO at Magway, 20+ years of experience building and scaling early-stage and founder-led businesses.

Phill Davies is an ACA-qualified commercial leader with over 20 years’ experience building, scaling and advising technology-led businesses across logistics, mobility and industrial innovation. As Co-founder and former CEO of Magway, he led the development and commercialisation of a patented beltless conveyor system for sustainable e-commerce and bulk logistics—an R&D-intensive deep-tech venture spanning engineering, software and systems innovation. At Magway, Phill secured high-value partnerships with blue-chip organisations, raised multi-million-pound equity and grant funding, and gained first-hand experience of the importance of robust R&D identification, claims governance and HMRC compliance. Post-Magway, Phill advises deep-tech and data-driven scale-ups on go-to-market strategy, enterprise sales, partnership structuring, fundraising and international expansion. He chairs the UKAI Mobility & Autonomous Systems Working Group and is active as a board advisor and fractional commercial leader, aligning founder and investor interests alongside strong financial controls and value led culture building to accelerate growth and innovation.

Don Williams

RCK Advisor and Former Partner – Retail Sector at KPMG and NED at Blue Diamond, over 10 years’ experience at KPMG, driving growth in the retail sector.

Don began his career as a trainee accountant at BDO, progressing to audit partner and spending 25 years with the firm. Alongside extensive client work, Don led a combined audit and tax business group in London (circa £20m revenues), developed a firmwide sector-led approach across all service lines, led the firm’s alumni programme, and served as an elected member of the partnership council. Don’s final role was National Head of the Retail and Wholesale sector. Following, Don joined KPMG, where for 10 years he drove growth in the retail sector across all KPMG capabilities. He worked closely with management teams and owners to understand their key challenges and opportunities, delivering tailored mainstream, financial, and operational advice to help address them. Don now pursues a portfolio career, including a NED role at Blue Diamond Garden Centres, board adviser at Stripe & Stare, and adviser roles across the retail advisory ecosystem, including the micro-donation charity Pennies. Don is a former GB and England hockey player who played for GB in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, winning over 120 caps. Don is now much more likely to be found on the golf course or tennis/padel court. I live near Reading with my wife Gail and our two children.

Stephen Loftus

RCK Advisor and CEO at Wattbike, with a proven track record of scaling consumer product businesses and driving transformative growth.

Stephen Loftus is an advisor to RCK Tax Advisors with 30 years’ experience building and scaling premium consumer product businesses. He began his career in strategy consulting before moving into senior leadership roles within global FMCG and drinks companies including Diageo, Red Bull and Constellation Brands, where he served as Innovation Director with responsibility for product development and commercialisation across international markets. In recent years, Stephen has focused on founder-led and private equity-backed SMEs, where product innovation has been central to growth and value creation. He spent eight years as Chief Commercial Officer at Brompton Bicycle, helping to scale the business globally, and remains a shareholder. He is currently CEO of Wattbike, leading a product-led turnaround and the launch of new products. Stephen’s career-long focus on innovation, R&D and commercial execution closely aligns with RCK’s mission to help businesses realise the value of their R&D investment.
